Good afternoon, pupils!

-       Good afternoon, teacher!

-       Thank you, sit down. I’m glad to see you, let’s begin today’s  our open lesson. Dear teachers  and guests welcome our open lesson. We can see our class divided into two groups. Today we learn public celebrations and holidays in the United Kingdom and do some interesting tasks

-       Well, pupil’s look at the blackboard. This poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.  At 1st I’ll read, listen to me carefully.

Valentine’s Day. On this day many people send cards to people they love. It falls on February 14 each year. Popular gifts include chocolates and flowers. Many people send Valentine's Day cards, gifts or text messages to their partner or somebody for whom they have romantic feelings. Cards and gifts are traditionally sent anonymously in the UK, even if they are from a partner or spouse.

Halloween is a holiday for children. Halloween is a holiday celebrated at the end of October by holding parties, dressing up and going 'trick-or-treating’. Common symbols of Halloween include pumpkins, bats and spiders.Witches' hats and carved pumpkins symbolize Halloween.  Other people gather together to watch horror films, either at home or at a cinema.Some children go trick-or-treating. This means that they dress up and go to other peoples' houses, knocking on the door for treat of sweets or a snack.

Mother’s Day. In UK, Mother's Day celebrations takes place on the fourth Sunday in the month of Lent. Since the Lent days are not fixed, the date for mother’s Day changes every year. The festival has its roots in the practice wherein poor people in England send their little children to work as domestic servants or apprentice with the rich. At that time it was considered important by the people that these children, staying away from their families be allowed to visit their homes once in a year.

Christmas Day is one of the most festive holidays in many countries around the world. There are many ways to celebrate Christmas. Many people have a day off work and spend time with their families and loved ones on Christmas Day. Christmas Day is a special day for children who receive gifts that they have been longing for. Many children believe in Santa Claus, or Father Christmas, a figure who is believed to provide Christmas presents to children. Some children write “letters to Santa” a few weeks before Christmas Day, asking for a gift that they desire most.

New Year's Day marks the start of a new year in the Gregorian calendar, the official calendar used in the United Kingdom. People begin celebrating this holiday in January 1. Sometimes they have parties where guests dress up in costumes and cover their faces with marks. Next day people visit friends, relatives, neighbors. Here is a lot of eat and drink. Many families watch television.

Father's Day is held on the third Sunday of June in the United Kingdom. It is a day to honor fathers and father figures, such as grandfathers and fathers-in-law. Many people make a special effort to visit their fathers or to send them a card or gifts. In the days and weeks before Father's Day, many schools, Sunday schools and children's organizations help their pupils to prepare a handmade card or gift for their father.

Thanks giving day. On this day Families in the USA gather together usually in a home for a traditional. Thanksgiving dinner includes roast turkey, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. All give thanks together for the good thinks than they have.

Fool’s day is celebrated on 1st April every year. It is one of the most light – hearted days of the year. It is the name given to the custom of playing practical jokes on friends or sending them on fools errands. Sometimes elaborate practical jokes played on friends or relatives might last the entire day.
